A new brand and a new football experience on the PlayStation, well that was the brief anyway! A nice brand to work on and one that had to work across all of Europe and the USA.

adidas Power Soccer brand design

Designed while at Sony

The game was designed by the French Psygnosis office and had a different feel and play to the existing football games on the market. Initially I wasn’t happy about having to call it soccer but then the game was being released in the USA and power football didn’t quite have the same ring to it as power soccer.

 

The ideas for the colour scheme came from a motion graphics video I had seen for the golden boot awards, I liked the movement and shimmer of gold and so wanted to try and replicate that within a static logo. The adidas three stripe was integrated in to the logo with the swoosh of the ball moving, this was a theme that was carried on in to the advertising and pack.
